Limiting factors lab all classes
Here are the questions from the limiting factors lab in case you did not finish in class. Below that you will find the rubric for the lab.
Analyze: Write your answers in your science notebook, journal, or separate sheet of paper
1.What was the initial mean height of your Alien Bugs? How was it calculated?
2.After the disease came, what happened to the Alien Bugs that were 5 meters or less in height? List two possible explanations.
3.What was the “second” mean height of your Alien Bugs? How did you calculate this value?
4.What was the “third” mean height of your Alien Bugs? What was the mathematical calculation that you used.
5.How did the mean height of the Alien Bugs change over time? What was the direct cause for this change in height? Explain.
6.GRAPH [Population Sample] vs. [Height of Population and Height of Vegetation.
Conclusions:
Answer your hypothesis, describing what you learned in this lab about limiting factors effect on a specific population. Your conclusion should include an explanation about how we were able to study “environmental” changes using the model instead of using real animals. Specifically, how did we model reproduction, the effect of food supply, and differences in animal size? Compare your model to “real animals” citing similarities and differences. (At least 5-7 sentences)
RUBRIC:
40pts total
5pts-materials list
5pts-lab completed; all work shown, complete sentences
10pts-accurate, neat graph. labeled x and y axis
10pts-accurate neat data table
10pts-well written conclusion, use your FRIESS!

ClassChatter Back up Plan
Here is a reminder of the CCL backup plan that I have been going over in class.
- From now on be sure to back up your CCL assignments in a Microsoft Word document. This will ensure that if you ever lose your work on CCL that you will have it on your home computer. Backing up your work is a good habit to get into when you are working with technology!
- If you notice a problem with your CCL while you are working on an assignment email me right away.
-CCL will automatically log you out after 5 minutes of no activity. This is for safety and security purposes. If you stop working on an assignment be sure that you hit save and log out before you walk away so that your work will be saved.
-If you have done an assignment and it is not showing up in my CCL you may bring in a hard copy of your backed-up assignment with a parent/guardian signature and written explanation of the situation the next day and you will receive credit for the assignment. This information will also help me to try and fix or prevent the problem from happening again.

Rubric and Outline for Lab Report
Outline
PURPOSE: Create a lab to demonstrate the scientific method using a simple classic paper airplane.
HYPOTHESIS: When you have decided on a plan (procedure), make a prediction based on the procedure you have developed to use the paper airplane.
PROCEDURE: Use your creative talents to develop a plan that demonstrates the scientific method. Create a table and graph to record the data collected. Be sure to include at least 5 trials of whatever you decide to do.

Welcome to 7th Grade Science!!!!!
Welcome to Team 7A! I am so excited to have each and every one of you in my science class. I have so many exciting lessons and labs planned for us to explore in class, and as a team, 7A has many fun field trips and activities in the works for this school year!!! I just can't wait to get started!
This blog is a great tool for you (and your parents!) to use to stay organized, and on top of class assignments, homework and other other important Team 7A events that might be going on. When I write my blog I write as though I am speaking to my students, however I encourage parents to check in on here regularly as well. This will help us all work together to ensure the best possible year for everyone!
Again....welcome and I will see you in class tomorrow!
