Team Time Assignments

You will have until Monday to complete your Team Time Menu Items. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO TURN IN THE WORK ON MONDAY DURING TEAM TIME!
Below is a copy of the menu just in case you misplaced yours. Also included is the link to the Reading assignment from yesterday.

Team Time—4th quarter Bridge to High School Science

Topic 1—Revisiting the Periodic Table—50pts


1.) Visit www.Chem4kids.com
click on ATOMS; read the sections entitled ions, isotopes, bonding and compounds. Complete the quiz after each section of reading. Record your results for each quiz and if you got the questions wrong include where you made your mistake.

2.)Create a vocabulary chart to track new words: covalent bond, ionic bond, ion, and isotope. For each word include the definition, a sentence in which you utilize the word and a picture or symbol that helps you connect to the word.

3.) Work through the gizmo “Element Builder” with a partner. Each person should complete the student exploration guide and 5 questions.

4.) (TIME PERMITTING) Watch the NOVA documentary “Hunting the Elements” and complete a 3-2-1 reflection:

3 connections to in class study (either during team time or ‘regular class’)
2 new and interesting things that you learned from the video
1 topic or concept you would like to learn more about and what/why

Topic 2—Oceans and Salinity—50pts

1.) Read article “Why is the Ocean Salty”

For each section write a 3-5 sentence summary of the important info.
Add at least 3 new and interesting words to your vocab chart (they don't have to be JUST science!)

2.) Complete lab “Sea Water Properties.” Work with your group to complete stations that will allow you a hands on exploration of sea water properties. Completed Lab Sheet must be turned in by each person.

***BRING IN ONE EMPTY 2-LITER PLASTIC SODA BOTTLE, and DUCT TAPE for class on Friday/Monday***

Your Booklet is worth 100pts (equivalent to a test grade) please be sure that you are keeping up with the in class time line. If you do not complete something in class it is your responsibility to work on it for homework.

Practice for the Science FCAT and earn Extra Credit--

IMPORTANT EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!
ALL EXTRA CREDIT IS DUE ON OR BY THURS APRIL 18 (Day of FCAT SCIENCE)

There are two ways that you can practice for the FCAT next week and receive extra credit in my Science Class. Below are the directions for each just like we talked about in class!

QUIZLET EXTRA CREDIT


Please go to the link on the Blog side bar for FCAT QUIZLET.
Familiarize yourself with the FCAT vocabulary words by clicking through the deck of virtual flashcards. After you have familiarized yourself click on the blue button that is marked 'TEST.' Set the quiz so that all of the question choices are enabled. You must receive an 80% or better on the quiz to qualify for the extra credit. Print out the quiz, have it signed by your parent or guardian and turn it in to me. For each quiz that you turn in you will receive 5 extra credit points added to your science project grade. REMEMBER: "quizlet is like a snowflake, there are no two tests that are the same." When your parent signs the quiz they are verifying that it is your work and that is an original quiz generated by you on quizlet.


JLAB EXTRA CREDIT

Copy and paste the link to jlab into your browser. You will create a 40 question quiz utilizing all strands of questions. Complete the quiz and score an 80% or better, print it out, and have a parent or guardian sign it and turn it in to me.
You will receive 10 points extra credit on your homework grade. You may do more than one test! But remember no two tests are the same:)
