Tide activity!!!

B Day Due Friday Feb 17!!
4B-Your homework is to find all data for 3 months worth of new moons and full moons. Remember you will have 2 high tides and 2 low tides per day!
5B-Your homework is to complete the activity!! Questions are below.

A Day (All classes) Due Tues Feb 21!!
Complete the rest of the lab that we worked on in class. The questions are below. You should also use the Gizmo "tides" to help you figure out the lab as well.

1. Find your data and organize! Use the links on the blog to find accurate data for your graph. Construct your graph using graph paper, set up your graph like this:
2. Now choose one color to represent the full moon, and another color to represent the new moon. Using the correct color, place a dot on the graph of the high and low tides of the day. You should have two dots for the high tide, and two dots for the low tide for each day. If the low tide goes below zero, you can draw your graph to include negative numbers on the Y-axis.
3. When you are finished you can look at and analyze your results. Is there a difference between the high and low tides during a full moon compared to a new moon, what are some general trends and patterns that you are noticing?
4. Based on your data analysis and knowledge of moon, sun and earth relationships predict why there is a pattern of the height of the tide and the phases of the moon.
5. Now read the article "Ocean's Tides Explained" on Moonconnection.com. The link is located on the side bar and the article explains the causes of tides. Was your prediction correct? How close were you? (you may also use gizmo to help you)
6. Summarize the article. Identify the main idea and at least 5 important details that support it.
