Below you will find the rubric for the Earth and It's Processes Flip Chart. All of the information that we have already worked on in the flip chart is included in the rubric. Work that we will be doing in class this week will be updated accordingly.

5 POINTS—FRONT COVER: EARTH AND ITS PROCESSES
Label the tabs from top to bottom:
- Impacts of Humans
- Weathering
- Rock Cycle notes
- Earthquakes notes
- Volcanoes notes
- Theory of Plate Tectonics
- Layers of the Earth
5 POINTS—LAYERS OF THE EARTH
• Label the bottom tab LAYERS OF THE EARTH
• Define and illustrate all vocabulary words
• On the BOTTOM HALF of the fold You should have a diagram of the physical structure of the earth and notes that explain what each layer is composed of (pg. 262-263)
5 POINTS—THEORY OF PLATE TECTONICS
• Label the 2nd tab from the bottom THEORY OF PLATE TECTONICS
• The Definition in your own words of “plate tectonics” should be written at the top of the first page.
• You should have an organizer that includes 3 information boxes for each type of boundary. For each boundary you will have notes on “what it is” “What it looks like” and “Effects of”
5 POINTS—VOLCANOES
-read Chapter 9 section 1 (green book) pages 300-305
-While you are reading you should take notes on the following concepts
"Explosive vs. Non explosive volcanoes
"4 types of Lava and their characteristics"
"What is Pyroclastic Material"
"4 types of pyroclastic Material"
5 POINTS—EARTHQUAKES
• Label the 4th tab up from the bottom EARTHQUAKES
• Your chart should be separated into 4 boxes labeled: “Where do Earthquakes occur?” “What causes Earthquakes?” “ Faults at Tectonic Plates” and How do seismic waves travel?” In each square you should have notes from the reading answering these questions.
• Diagrams of the types of faults
5 POINTS—ROCK CYCLE
• Label the 5th tab up from the bottom ROCK CYCLE
• Identify four properties of minerals.
• Explain the difference between the composition and texture of a rock.
• Explain how the three classes of rocks form.
• Explain how the rate of cooling of magma affects the texture of igneous rocks.
• Rock Cycle Diagram from pages 208-209 paper clipped or stapled into chart
5 POINTS—WEATHERING
--Above the fold you should have a summary of the article "Rock Stars" using the 10 most important words that you identified in the graphic organizer.
--On the page below the fold you should have glued in your completed "10 most important words" graphic organizer.
5 POINTS—IMPACT OF HUMANS
-On the page above the fold you should have your pre-reading/brainstorming. Here you have thought about 5 ways that humans impact the Earth and the effects of these impacts.
-Below the fold you have identified from the reading (green text book pgs 240-242) two ways in which humans impact the environment. You should have created a chart with the 'word' 'definition in your own words/notes' and a 'picture'
